About Miriam Turner
As a therapist, I focus on providing psychotherapy to adolescents, couples, and individual adults. I also enjoy providing career counseling services to many clients and have led support groups for adult survivors of childhood abuse.
As a therapist, I address many issues, including trauma and abuse, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, postpartum, infertility, parenting, pregnancy loss, and other life transitions. I am on the Postpartum Support Virginia referral list; and from 2006 through 2013, I led groups for new mothers and their babies through P.A.C.E. (Parent and Community Education).
I am an in-network provider for Carefirst and Anthem-BlueCross/BlueShield insurance.

I view therapy as a joint venture in healing and growth. Therapy is an interactive process that provides possibilities for change and hope. Everyone's situation and experiences are unique.
Together we will explore your presenting issues and concerns to ultimately meet your goals. In my work as a psychotherapist, I utilize cognitive behavioral, solution-oriented, and humanistic approaches. I also believe that our mind and body are closely integrated, and greater awareness and understanding of the mind-body connection can help a person more effectively cope with stress, trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, etc. Therefore, I often encourage mind-body practices into the healing and growth process.
